Passed peacefully in his sleep at 9:40 pm Pacific time May 14 2015 in Las Vegas (Nevada/USA) the King of Blues is dead. Rest in Peace in The Artists Paradise dear Riley, a.k.a. B.B. King.
Riley B. King, a.k.a. B.B. King (Baby Blues King), was a great blues singer, songwriter, and guitarist in the Blues, R&B, electric blues and blues rock genres, born on September 16, 1925, in a cotton plantation near the town of Itta Bena (Mississippi - USA). When Riley was 4 years old, his mother left his father for another man, and the boy was raised by his maternal grandmother, Elnora Farr, in Kilmichael (Mississippi), Then, while young, Riley sang in the gospel choir at Elkhorn Baptist Church in Kilmichael. Around age 12 he started playing the guitar. At age 18 (1943) Riley left Kilmichael city to work as a tractor driver and play guitar with the Famous St. John's Quartet of Inverness (Mississippi), performing at area churches. In 1949, BB King began recording songs under contract with Los Angeles-based RPM Records. Many of it's early recordings were produced by Sam Phillips, who later founded Sun Records.
