Shannon Kimberley Busch, a.k.a. WILSN, (also known under the moniker Maeflower during a time) was born around 1990 in Melbourne area (Australia). Growing up in Mebourne's suburbs she studied at the Christian College of Geelong (Victoria), then to the Faculty of Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Conservatorium of Music- from she graduated. She started learning the piano at age 6 encouraged by her Mom. Shannon is a nice singer and songwriter. who combines a fusion of soul, R&B and pop.. As she grew up, she was introduced to artists such as Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Etta James and Aretha Franklin (but also Erykah Badu, Alicia Keys, Ray Charles, Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill, India Arie, Katie Noonan and Otis Redding just to name a few..) by her Dad.
Her carreer really began after graduating in 2013, when, under the name of WILSN she launched her own brand of soul driven tunes onto The Melbourne Fresh Showcase stage and placed 3rd out of 90 bands. In April 2015, WILSN released her first single -Unmeet You-. Ten days, no paid publicity and 15,000 Soundcloud plays later, it had been added to radio rotation on Double J, Triple J Unearthed, ABC 774, PBS, and various UK radio stations. Since then WILSN played two shows supporting Charles Bradley, Meg Mac and HARTS as well as teaming up with collaborator Oscar Dawson (Holy Holy), along with producer Stephen Mowat, to release her second single.
In September 2015, WILSN returns with her second single -Walking For Days- produced by Stephen Mowat, backed by some of Melbourne’s best musicians including Richard Bradbeer (Dorsal Fins/New Gods/Eagle and The Worm), Darvid Thor (Cactus Channel), Jamshid -Jumps- Khadiwala (The Cat Empire) and Ryan Brewer (Silver Springs). Immediately it was premiered on Triple J radio, added to full rotation on Double J Radio, Triple J Unearthed Radio. WILSN was also deemed the winner of a Triple J Unearthed competition whereby National Institute of Dramatic Art where students produced and directed a film clip for her. In November 2015 she released her first EP -Don’t Give It Up- which includes tracks that feature horn arrangements written and performed by the horn section of Mark Ronson and Charles Bradley.
Building on the considerable amount of attention WILSN has generated throughout the last 6 months, the artist was selected to receive a Music Works Quick Response Grant from the Victorian Government for the purpose of traveling to the USA. Capitalising on this momentum, WILSN visited New York in December 2015 to connect with US labels and agents. It was during this US trip that -Walking For Days- was aired on Apple’s Beats 1 Radio by Ebro Darden (NY). With her EP well over 100 000 plays on Spotify, WILSN has been selected to perform at SXSW Austin, Texas in 2016. Since then, she has been signed by Native Tongue Music Publishing's a joint venture with Pulse Publishing, who will administer the works outside of Aus/NZ.
