Organizing the Living Room
The living room is one of the most important spaces in your home. This is where you spend time with family and friends, watch TV, and relax.
It’s important to keep it organized so that you always have a clear place for everything! In this blog post, we will show how to organize the living room in just a few easy steps.
We’ll go over how to declutter your space, how to create a functional organization system, and how to maintain order going forward.
Tip 1: Wastebasket
If you want to cut down on the clutter in your family room, try adding a wastebasket. Not many families have one of these so they might not be sure where it should go or what size would work best for their space.
To get around this problem, find something that matches both the decor and function of your room. Perhaps there’s even an option with a lid to prevent any unwanted odors!
Perhaps having more than just a few things spilled seems like too much trouble. When cleaning up after dinner is already such an inconvenience.
Tip 2: Flat Surfaces
The family room is a central gathering place in the house, so it’s often more cluttered than other rooms.
If you don’t have enough floor space for files and stacks of paper, then invest in some type of file cart or lateral filing system. Where everything will be easy to access yet still organized.
Tip 3: Coffee Table
It’s time to reassess the capacity of your coffee table. If you have a cluttered surface that lacks storage for magazines, remote controls, or even drink coasters.
It may be making life more difficult. Consider budgeting for low-storage cubes and rolling baskets if necessary. They can’t fix everything but will at least help with some issues!
Tip 4: Creatively Display
Your family room’s walls are full of photos that you want to display in a new way. You can use photo albums and collage frames, or if your pictures are all digital there is the option for a digital frame!
Don’t just think about using vertical space on mantles or side tables. Try filling up wall space with different types of displays as well.
If you’re an avid scrapbooker then organizing them by date might be helpful so they never get lost again!
Tip 5: Houseplants
You know that jungle-like feeling in a typical family room? Well, it can be toned down with some lush plants and just the right kind of stand.
From corner to pedestal or tiered stands, there’s something for everyone when planning out their plant display. And don’t forget about those drawers which are perfect places to keep your fertilizer and watering cans!
Tip 6: Movie Collection
The family room is a cozy space for entertainment and gathering. To make it feel even homier, surround yourself with the things that you love most, or are used to at least! It’s time to sort through your DVD collection so all of those movies are easy to access when needed.
If you don’t plan on watching something in the near future or haven’t seen it since. Its release date was many years ago, get rid of them now before they fill up your space without use!
