@hubertgunpowder Thank you Hubert! "Black Hole Sun and from the James Bond motion picture theme song "Casino Royal": "You Know My Name" are the two songs I liked most by Chris Cornell. Thank you for visiting and commenting! Peace......

@FallingAwake Hi Dave, to be honest I am not really a fan of Soundgarden or Audioslave the acts Chris Cornell was associated with but there were a few songs that I enjoyed by them. My feelings on the man are written below in my answer or should I write 'rant' to Frederyck's comment. He was indeed talented. That is the only real good thing I can write about him. Thank you for visiting and of course commenting. bye now! Peace......

@EuroGirl I read your comment below and agree that its very sad, yet i also get where you are coming from too. I never knew of him at all until this video so i cant really comment about it, but i kinda felt that way too about Amy Winehouse. The problem is that these people quite often get so wrapped up in themselves and their self importance. Even if they are in fact not that big of a star really at all. The fact that they are throwing away a talent is one thing, but as you say, the real sad thing is the total selfish disregard to the loved once they leave behind to deal with it.
We can all have our issues and inner demons to deal with, and i know we are not making light of that fact. Yet as you say too there are many who never have a chance of a good healthy life, so its a bit of an insult to them to make it something not worth fighting for. The sad thing is though that there are some who you just cant help no matter of the professionals out there. And as we know, there are some who just dont Want to be helped. Some who have a kind of "romantic" notion of death and cant seem to realise that death is Final, Not something just to play with as in some genre song lyrics. I have wondered sometimes if the artists may actually see it as somehow a guarantee of perpetual stardom. Again an Ego thing.

That's a nice musical choice dear Amanda. So sad to see one more time a great artist (R.I.P. chris Cornell) disappearing too much early without any logical explanation, if I can tell like that, because the death can't be a goal, even if we all know that will arrive a day. Thanks for the sharing and let me wish you a peaceful week end. Bizzzzz..;)...

@Frederyck Thank you Frederyck! The alternative music scene takes another hit. It is a common occurrence nowadays. My own personal feelings on this matter, for what it's worth, is another superficial, propped up overly paid demigod bites the dust with his own hand. In his aftermath he leaves behind a wife and at least three children. WTF? Don';t the feelings of his family matter? Doesn't the very thought of leaving behind his loved ones to bear the emotional burden of the loss of a husband and Father? No, I guess not. It was all about him. F**k everyone else. He was the tortured soul. He was the 'poor' innocent victim. There is zero excuses for ending an otherwise healthy and productive life. Especially when you consider the fact that he had a great deal of resources at his disposal to help him fight whatever was tormenting him. People lie terminally ill in hospices throughout the world. Many of them so young you have to be a stone not to feel their hurt. Anyone of them would just love to be given a second chance at life. But they won't. Then there are those who treat life like a cheap disposable commodity. Something to be tossed away if things don't go their way or the pieces don't exactly fall the way they would want it. It is a waste. Not only of the life that was callously ended but because the individual was granted a rare gift that very few people receive. The gift to create and perform music. To win over the admiration of millions of people. I say Rest In Peace because that's the politically correct thing to say but my inner self says Good riddance because that is all he deserves.

Why Why Why...? Now they're saying that he hung himself...

@SMJ A scene all to familiar within the grunge/alternative rock genres. Kurt Cobain, Scott Weiland, Layne Staley, Stefanie Sargent and now Chris Cornell. Who knows what kind of demons these musicians were fighting. According to people close to Chris Cornell he was on top of his game. Nothing seemed amiss and he was looking forward to future projects. One thing I have noticed about people who are suicidal is that they can be geniuses at disguising their hidden feelings and true intentions. I hope that whatever was tormenting Chris is now passed and his soul has at last found peace.
Thank you for commenting. Peace to you!

@SMJ I was looking for a video of Chris performing a a raw version of one of his songs and was lucky enough to have located this one. Truly he had one of the finest rock voices I have ever heard. I wouldn't kid you, I am no expert on the alternative rock scene but this person's vocal abilities would have dominated any music genre. A terrible loss of a truly talented musician.

Black Hole Sun

In my eyes, indisposed
In disguise as no one knows
Hides the face, lies the snake
The sun in my disgrace
Boiling heat, summer stench
'Neath the black the sky looks dead
Call my name through the cream
And I'll hear you scream again

Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come

Stuttering, cold and damp
Steal the warm wind tired friend
Times are gone for honest men
And sometimes far too long for snakes
In my shoes, a walking sleep
And my youth I pray to keep
Heaven send Hell away
No one sings like you anymore

Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come

Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come

Hang my head, drown my fear
Till you all just disappear

Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come

Black hole sun
Won't you come
And wash away the rain
Black hole sun
Won't you come
Won't you come
