A little mysterious and a little chilling. Tarja would not have it any other way. My interpretation would be that someone beloved recently departed and is now standing guard over a loved one. That would be a quick observation of course. One thing I find intriguing is that Tarja's ambiguous lyrics are much in the same mix as Kate Bush albeit far less controversial. (Always thought Kate's lyrics were by far superior in so much as the content that it contained and the discussions they have provoked. She's just an interesting artist. You can say with equal measure that she's a bona fide genius or an off the wall kook). This is a wonderful song by Tarja and company.
On another note. There is an effect in the instrumental background at 3:08 that has my ear. It's a strange sound that I have heard on recordings of the late '60s and early '70s psychedelic era. It sounds like a muted guitar being driven into a depressed wah pedal or a guitar played through a bass amp. It could of course be none of those before mentioned rather it could be produced electronically through a synthesizer. It's just an interesting sound.
LOL...."green of jealousy". In spite of Frederyck's disdain of Tuomas Holopainen I see him, begrudgingly of course, as a true musical genius. Now don't get me wrong I wouldn't be sending him greeting cards anytime soon or joining his fan club but it's just that I cannot deny him his rightful place as a great artist. That is just my opinion weighed next to a bag of sand:)) Hahah have a lovely day Dave. Thanks for the share!
@EuroGirl Not really sure about how they got the sound you mention, but i think there are so many intriguing sounds going on here, (like the heart beat too) that make it "chilling". Yes it could just as easy be a departed loved one as an Angle as i stated, certainly something along those lines anyway.
I wish i had your powers of deduction and expression Amanda, but i do get what you mean about the similarity to Kate Bush. Something "out there" and "off the wall", or yes just Kooky!. Tarja's stunning vocals of course, but maybe it is this similarity that drew me to Tarja too. All i know is that apart from sounding good i do tent to need Something More in the artists that i love.
Oh i dont think I or Frederyck or anyone could deny Tuomas Holopainen's genius. The problem is that we feel his genius is outweighed by his ego, and he certainly hated Tarja (and later females leads) for stealing HIS limelight. Plus i'd much prefer to cuddle up to Tarja than him any day, LOL.
As ever i very much appreciate your opinion, (even next to a very big bag of sand lol. Thanks. xxx
@FallingAwake "The problem is that we feel his genius is outweighed by his ego...." Yes, but isn't that the truth among all Divas and Prima Donnas? Along with these insanely talented people comes with them a fair amount of 'baggage'. Since most of that baggage is hidden behind the scenes I tend to distance myself from the rumors of Holopainen being a total arsehole. I just have no way of knowing what is real and what is sensationalized. The innuendos could be true or they could be just conjecture. Who among us mortals really knows? I know he's an arsehole.or should I refrain from the name calling and say it's rumored that he is a difficult person to be around. But the gist of it boils down to not having to be around him. Therefore I really have become very apathetic to the infamous stories of his tantrums and spotlight hogging ways. As long as the music keeps coming. I love Tarja as well but there is no way that anyone will convince me that she is immune to this 'diva' disease. I can safely infer that she too has berated a person or two who made the mistake of pissing her off or certain back stage requirements before each show. I mean it comes with the role of diva:))
Take a look:
@EuroGirl I hear what you are saying, and of course you are right too. I remember way back in the day hearing on the tv news something about Diana Ross (cant exactly remember what it was) but can remember thinking to myself NO that cant be true. I think its good that we can still put someone on a pedestal for their art, yet realising at the same time that they are only as human as we all are, and with faults as we all have. Even though knowing all this there is always gonna be something when i see him, rightly or wrongly, that screams Arrogant Asshole!.
(Just as i cant look at Trump without thinking,,, Moronic Prick) LOL
I tried to look at the link but it just keeps getting obscured with something asking me to close program on my pc. No doubt its something about Beyonce demanding the lighting shows off her ass really well. LOL
What a beat Tarja song Dave🎶💖🎶..of course her voice is magnificent 🎶💖🎶..the theme of this song kind of reminds me of terrapin station by Robert hunter..kind of a story of the anima...beautiful upload Dave 🎶💖🎶 Love and hugs Beth 🎶💖🎶 XO
@Beth_Cassidy11 I think i have heard the song you mention on your ch but cant really remember a great deal about it. But yes i think its kinda along the theme you mention too. She has used mythology/spirits/inner being in a few of her songs. Glad you liked it, thanks Beth. Love n Hugs XXX🎶💖🎶
HmMm what nice idea dear Dave ! This second album solo by Tarja was platinium in her native country and in Russia. You can imagine the head of the Holopainen ...green of jealousy in front of such success.. ahaha
I'm the one who leaves shadows in your room at night;
I'm the reason you're listening enlightening your eyes.
When Pan meets Apollo down with the sin,
they will send tears of angels though kindness won't win.
Refrain 1 [Lost northern star, buried in sorrow,
I'll guard your mind. Let demons howl outside.]
Where the calm fields of snow become one with the sky,
I am there; I am waiting as time passes by.
I set up the weather to suit how you feel.
Drop rain down with wishes, build grace out of steel.
Refrain 2 [...]
"My soul burns."
Sending dream flakes your way,
painting pictures to help you each day.
Yet you don't know I'm there.
